Rouen ducklings begin hatching
They’ve begun hatching in our incubator today. This is the first one after it has dried off. Adorable little things. We will try and sell these ducklings locally here in NW Missouri.

Today I went looking for a missing hen. After hearing her I narrowed my search and found her under the back porch steps. After she finished I went to look and found this in the picture. No idea how any times I’ve walked right over this nest!
It was pretty cold last night, so I fear many of these eggs are no longer good. Notice the chicken egg?
These two young’uns really enjoyed getting into the tractor and having room to stretch their legs.
This morning while the girls and Dee were at the table having breakfast they were able to watch a duck hen scratch out a small depression and lay this egg. I’ve since added a little straw and will wait to see if she won’t possibly end up sitting on a clutch here. It would be fun to be able to watch her everyday as she hatched some ducklings! You can see the white egg just under the bush.
My folks sent these pictures today showing the birth of a Boer kid. Pretty amazing, even after all these years. Mother and kid are well.
In anticipation of the insects returning, we decided to get our purple Martin house up on the pole and ready for their arrival. We got it out late last year and didn’t have any nesting pairs.
Last night the girls and I went out to check in the baby New Zealand’s. you could just see they’re beginning to open their little eyes. This morning one baby was able to partially open these tiny eyes. Hopefully soon they’ll be fully open and hopping every where.
Forty one eggs loaded and ready to hatch! In twenty one days we should be in little chick heaven.
Three days old and cute as a button! There are only two of them, with one dying outside the nesting box. These two are fat little butter balls, though.
Our doe kindled last night. We took a quick peek and got a little video of her babies after the girls got to see them.
