My brother came over with his deer meat from last fall and we finally got around to grinding up the portions we had set aside for burger. With the price of hamburger these days this meat will help to offset our grocery bill.
Our grinder is one of the Cabela’s models and is rated at 1 HP. It does a great job and is much quieter than the old bet driven setup we used for years.

This morning while the girls and Dee were at the table having breakfast they were able to watch a duck hen scratch out a small depression and lay this egg. I’ve since added a little straw and will wait to see if she won’t possibly end up sitting on a clutch here. It would be fun to be able to watch her everyday as she hatched some ducklings! You can see the white egg just under the bush.

My folks sent these pictures today showing the birth of a Boer kid. Pretty amazing, even after all these years. Mother and kid are well.

Last night the girls and I went out to check in the baby New Zealand’s. you could just see they’re beginning to open their little eyes. This morning one baby was able to partially open these tiny eyes. Hopefully soon they’ll be fully open and hopping every where.

Mother came over today to help me use up some of our fresh eggs. We ended up making 8 batches of egg noodles. They’re spread out to dry all over our home. This will be the first time my girls have ever had any.

Sidney walked out front where I was looking at the garden to show me she had caught our rooster Big Ben. He is 2 years old in two months and is a silver laced Wyandotte.
